I've watched pretty much every single crime/detective/police procedural series ever made (I'm that old, yes) and Shetland is -- in my opinion -- one of the very select best. Beautiful scenery and photography, complex plots with lots of 'red herrings' (Agatha Christie would be proud), deeply fleshed out characters, and superb acting. You do yourself a disservice if you love mysteries and don't watch this show. All four seasons (series) have been absolutely superb.
