Despite all of the other harsh ratings, I thought the show was brilliant. The only thing I thought they could have improved on was going over the objective more in the beginning. I feel it was a bit confusing until the end, because I thought they would literally camp out until the last team surrendered. They said from the beginning that the game has no rules, meaning contestants are allowed to steal, manipulate and put someone in danger to further your success in the game. It is definitely commendable to the ones that shot the flares to not look bad on television. Everyone knew what they signed up for. As much as I hated Amber and Jill, I thought it was such a great strategy because it forced both of the weak teams to shoot the flares. The producers wouldn't allow someone to die, and no one in the right mind would sleep in those temperatures without a sleeping bag. I think in the next season there needs to be stipulations that you cannot spend a night without a sleeping bag, or go more than 24 hours without food and more than 12 hours without water. Maybe supply them with a little more to get them going. I felt that one guy who passed out, was hungry way too fast because they weren't properly equipped enough. Something like that. The stealing brought an edge to the game. Although I was way more happy that the men won rather than the two women at the end, due to the cleanliness of their game, rather than the team with the women. It brought a hunger games aspect to the whole show. Would you have been really hooked by just watching them cut wood and craft things all day? Then go watch a camping channel on YouTube. We all knew that the whole premise of the show is "anything goes, there are no rules, outlast your rivals". What did you expect? They could've opted out at any time if they felt the conditions were too harsh. I personally think they should've got a million dollars each for surviving 36 days with the bare survival necessities, and one pair of clothes plus trudging through that terrible terrain for the end goal. We all know a million dollars isn't retirement money these days, let alone, split amongst a team. In conclusion to my rating, I loved the show. I got hooked right from episode one and binged the whole series through. I didn't rate it five stars simply due to the fact that there was some sort of narration needed to remind the audience the premise of the game, clearly. And, they could've been provided with more equipment for food and water. Even some MRE's or something. Please, Netflix, make another season.
