Craig Foster's marine biology adventure is an excellent illustration of some of the cognitive enigmas that Peter Godfrey-Smith swims through in his philosophical exploration, Other Minds: The Octopus, the Sea, and the Deep Origins of Consciousness. The great commonality between Craig and Peter is that they both fell head over swim fins in love with an octopus, and they make it easy to see how and why.
