The Owl House is one of, if not the best show on Disney, it’s helped introduce me and my family to so many important ideas that i never really thought about before, all of which are now a huge part of my life. I’m so happy that an LGBTQ romance is in the center and it’s just so, so, wonderfully written, they really are perfect together. As for the rest of the show, it’ll pull you in from the get-go, it does away with common cliches and puts you in a unique magical world unlike the rest, speaking of which.
The Boiling Isles is the perfect setting for this odd, lovable show, this magical world is based on the decaying body of a dead titan, the setting and world is beautifully crafted and the character and location designs are just so interesting that you just can’t help but want to know more.
-About the characters-
Luz, a hispanic, bisexual, teenage girl, is just so relatable in her struggles of fitting in and worrying about being looked down upon. She’s so kind and really brings out the best in everyone, even if she doesn’t know it.
Her friends, Willow and Gus, are amazing and supportive, both with their own personalities and quirks that they could practically be main characters themselves.
Eda and King, Luz’s practically second mother and brother, are amazing in their characterization and arcs, all three of them learning and growing together as they take on the world.
(Spoilers)
Amity is Luz’s girlfriend and so much more, she has relatable struggles with her parents and herself as the series progresses, starting as a snobby perfectionist and growing into a sweet, kind, wonderful person that anyone can grow from.
Emperor Belos is the perfect antagonist, his only motivation being to serve himself and his future as he plans to wipe out witch kind. He’s a mysterious figure throughout the show that you gradually learn about over time, he’s a manipulative, scheming, liar that will do anything to get what he wants.
(End of Spoiler Warning)
Overall, this magical, life changing show is perfect for any age, the humor is fantastic, and the writing is like no other. Truly a masterpiece.
