It did nothing for me. I found the story too complicated and I actually turned over before the end as I just did not care about the characters. Lack of charisma with lead actors and just dull. Probably bad writing more than anything.

I just watched this series again and enjoyed it thoroughly. It got more serious as it neared its conclusion, as the truth was revealed. Before that there were some great comic moments with not only Gene Hunt but mainly Chris and Ray. Exceptional writing and acting from all, plus the characters were all very likeable. As in Life on Mars the period detail well done and the music added to it all. You could see at the end there was scope for another series, perhaps called Station to Station, but there again the main mystery running through both series had been revealed. Philip Glenister made Gene Hunt iconic. One of the greats of British TV and totally matchless.

I really enjoyed this as it was very original and entertaining. Faultless performances & a great cast. Fantastic effects & to top it all the music of Queen! Well done all!
