I found myself sitting mesmerised through each episode, dreading the nasty gory bits, enjoying the black comedy parts, the twister of the various story lines, relieved at the end that I'd survived another gory episode or relieved at the end if it wasn't gory. But as one who has ADHD I normally find after 20 mins I've left the room to do something else.... but not with The Boat - I was there fixated, without moving or fidgeting for the whole hour x 6!
The other thing I liked was that as an audience member I almost felt like I was an invisible but present third person amongst or close by the lead two actors throughout the 6 episodes, as if I was being included in the conversations and I was party to and part-collaborator of all their shenanigans and thought processes etc... which is down to the delivery and interpretation of the script by these two amazing lead actors!
Highly recommend it. It is gory! Imho I found it was quite different to the normal run of the mill dramas. It is quirky, and no I didn't understand half of the 'caption' bits but it was a form of light relief especially if they were shown around the gory bits.
I really hope it gets some awards. Fantastic acting by all the key cast!
I was secretly hoping that there may be two more episodes with two more endings... in fact as an idea that would fit in with Samuel's book i.e. him working on three different endings.... and us the audience just able to get a glimpse into those three options .... but maybe that's just in my imagination...
But well done all, the storyline and all its different styles must have taken some creative thinking and doing by the script writers!
