The actors can act, no doubt. The shots within the Vatican compound are interesting. The screenplay would be bland if it were not for those elements. Without the surprise ending, the film would remain a tedious waste of time, however; the grand finale is disappointingly and absolutely not believable because no effort was made in writing it. This film rests on its assumption that the world not only cares about the Catholic papacy but believes it is the divine order. For those that do, they can forgive the film’s transgressions.
