While I understand changing the book to adapt the tv series they have removed the heart of the book. Mel and Jack relationaship was the start and heart of Virgin River’s love connections. They also become the center of the town with Jack the staple that everyone can count on. In the book he is a displayed as a true gentleman with close family ties. I haven’t completed the netflix series however once Charmaine announces she is pregnant that is too drastic of a change for me to not comment. And give a low rating. Virgin river is a romance series not a soap opera. Completely changing the story line to have a love triangle with Charmaine, Mel and Jack which never happened in the book. I identified more with the book as that story versus this new love triangle the writers created.
