I’m really pleased with the predominantly Black cast and diverse range of contemporary topics that have been introduced. However, I’m concerned that the gay male married characters come across as indifferent towards each other, Martin and Smitty come across as heterosexual men TRYING to play the role of a gay couple. The development of the lesbian relationship between Chelsea and Madison is seemingly more genuine and interesting. I’m loving the idea of two empowered professionals women in a relationship. Anyway, I’m beginning to find the Martin and Smitty “Modern Family” story line a bit boring. And I’ll be glad when the writers “rip off the bandage” regarding Martin’s mysterious past - the black & white flashbacks are becoming annoying. Perhaps I’m just bothered by how the actor portraying Martin doesn’t come across as the appropriate person for this character. Overall, thanks for producing and broadcasting this very promising predominantly Black soap opera!
