A disappointment hiding under a star studded cast. Coolie, What do i say? It's a movie with no plot. Or better put is that it's a movie with too many interwoven plots with non being highlighted properly. A amazingly dull commercial disaster where not even the emotional scenes connected. Coolie lacked the impact that even most common movies are able to give. The movie claimed mass elements which were missing till the very end. Even that felt watered down when compared to the entire movie. Lokesh claimed to be a kamal fan and has proven it through and through this movie. Other then soubin and rachita non of the other characters made an impact. Nagarjuna Uppendra and rajinikanth were not used to their full potential. This was a fear that came true from the day of the cast release. There were so many cuts and it felt so glued together that it was noticeable. Some scenes felt robotic and had no life. Again, A commercial mass masala movie run on how much impact or mass it can give. But this movie does nothing. Uppendra. An amazing actor and director reduced to nothing but a lacky in this movie. Someone who does the bidding of the hero and has no notable dialogue. There were actually many scenarios where Uppendra's character would have came in helpful but no. Nagarjuna. Another amazing actor reduced to one of the most boring antagonist. His role was so watered down, A villain who could have done more but was simply too outshined by soubin who felt like the true villain of the story. From the director we actually thought would save the tamil film industry to now doing his worse with the best cast possible. Why? Was the idea of doing a pan india movie too much for a good story? The reason why kaithi was a big hit was because of simple elements. Ignoring stereotypical movie types. Didn't have songs, Didn't have a heroine, no comedy. Just a dark gritty action movie with amazing emotional scenes where you could connect with the character. We are just asking for something similar. Another flop for rajini. And honestly as a hardcore fan it's a slap in the face. A true fan would have known from the start that this movie was too good to be true. With this much of a cast will a good story be really delivered? Not even Rajini's Style, Soubin's acting and anirudh's bgm can save this film. A film that only earned as much as it did from the hype which will start to dissipate as time goes on. A dark day for us Rajinikanth fans. A Disappointment for his 50th anniversary.
