Sabine Adeyinka is an author able to completely capture the feeling of teen years at a boarding school. Whilst this book is set in Africa (and it is a delight to “hear” the voices, expressions and sayings from this particular place rendered so effortlessly), the power of this story is its ability to speak to universal themes of friendship, loyalty, selflessness and growth. These apply to all of us everywhere. Recommended for English classes in all junior high schools, teens and their parents and grandparents. If you don’t shed a tear when Caro is finally spotted by Jummy entering the River School as a legitimate student, the croc has taken your heart (crocs feature big time in this book 😁) Shine River School!
