I've watched Breaking Bad. I've watched Dexter. I've watched The Office countless times. Rick and Morty! I'm on my 4th run-through of Malcolm in the Middle; yet PEN15 really does something special.
I didn't expect what I received. I expected an emotionally forced and poorly developed show that would take another season for me to become truly hooked on the ideas and attached to the characters; but this show earned a place in my heart immediately.
It makes me wish I was a kid again. It has the impeccable integration of good actors and great writing that puts you back in your middle-school shoes. This show brought me intense laughter and emotional moments so fluidly you won't be able to guess when the next hilariously awkward or tear-jerking moment is going to happen.
If you've lived life, you can bond with these characters. It actually goes so far as to make me positively nervous for their next season, because I fear it may take another direction other than the nostalgic-packed one it's on.
As a man who has never lived as a woman I feel like I can very strongly identify with the feelings and characters portrayed here. I know the actors and writers will probably never see this or bother to read this far, but if they did I'd want them to know how amazing this show is.
I've never even been compelled to write a review for a show or even leave a comment on a youtube video before now.
THIS IS A MUST WATCH
