Unorthodox Individual

Teen Titans Go is unfortunately a good example of quantity over quality. There's over 200 episodes of this show, and I'd be hard pressed to even find more than 5 that I'd consider good. The show is insulting, it actively holds contempt for it's audience and actively antagonizes and berates anyone who watches it. Some of it is tongue in cheek sure, but it's unpleasant to say the least. The influence this show has had on Cartoon Network has been nothing short of abysmal, there are certainly worse shows, but none of them are as toweringly successful as this one, it's infuriating how many great series were cut short, while this was allowed to persist for so long. It's truly sad.

Best cartoon of the decade imo. The show got better and better as it grew up with the audience. The characters grow and develop, the different and unique stories remain innovative and intriguing throughout, and the animation gets better and better. Not to mention the smaller touches and details that just serve to elevate the show that much more. The music is phenomenal and in most episodes the sound design is fantastic and makes the episodes atmospheric no matter the events. The backgrounds are phenomenal and only improve as the show goes on, some of the backgrounds can tell entire stories that the viewer can interpret and it can add even more depth to the show. Adventure Time is also a perfect example of how to make an episodic show with overarching stories and elements, as the show is episodic, but there is continuity and some story arcs that don't clash with the overall nature of the show, unlike in other shows that attempt to do something similar like Steven Universe. And lastly, this show made the absolute perfect use of it's 11 minute format, most shows with big story elements are 22 minutes like Avatar or Gravity Falls, but Adventure Time uses the 11 minute format as an advantage rather than as an excuse to brush off comments regarding mediocre storytelling or writing that other shows like it may receive. No show is perfect, but Adventure Time is pretty close, and I can't think of any other cartoon this decade that's left quite as much of a positive impact on the industry as this one seeing that it practically revived TV animation after the atrocious year that was 2009. Overall this show is a dramatic, introspective, fun, interesting, meaningful, and impactful journey that is well worth taking for anyone interested, and it's my favorite cartoon of all time as of 2019. Very highly recommended.

Infinity Train is an experience. I wouldn't call it perfect since some episodes are less incidental or entertaining as others, but the whole more than makes up for the sum of it's parts. This is a show about character and development. Both the first and second seasons absolutely excel in both these areas. I find it incredibly poignant that this cartoon incorporates how a divorce affects a young teenager. Tulip's portrayal is perfect, her character is exceptionally well realized and fleshed out. I don't want to spoil season 2, but let's just say they kept up the pattern. And while the characters are fantastic, the story is just as well realized. I wouldn't say the pacing is fantastic, but when it hits, it REALLY hits. I would consider episode 5 in particular to be one of the greatest singular cartoon episodes I've ever watched, which also goes for episode 8 of season 2. The music and backgrounds are also incredible. The eerie synths and horns that serve as a theme for the haunting train atmosphere, the stunning imagery of each individual car, the snowy backgrounds of Wisconsin, and the barren, arid, wasteland. The atmosphere in some scenes of the show rivals even Over The Garden Wall and Adventure Time. The show is just immaculate, it's astounding how it managed to surpass my expectations, and the pilot was one of the best cartoon pilots I, and seemingly most other animation enthusiasts had ever seen. I cannot recommend it enough, a modern classic in the making, I can feel it. Hopefully they can keep up this incredible level of quality.

Bee and Puppycat is one of those cartoons that doesn't need any real deep and thorough understanding to deeply feel and enjoy. I love the laid back feeling of this cartoon, I love the characters, I love the animation style, it's a great encapsulation of the more chill atmospheric qualities of shows like Adventure Time but sort of as it's own show. It's also VERY silly at times. Despite giving off a very chill vibe, this show is still really weird. Honestly I can't wait for the 2nd season, the end of the first season was easily one of my favorite cartoon episodes of 2018, and no matter when we get "Lazy in Space", I'll be eagerly anticipating. And there's a few real gut punch moments here and there, especially the one song in particular that I won't spoil. It's definitely worth a watch and it isn't too long so it's not a huge commitment.
