Saw it new years day. By far the worst of the new Trilogy, still trying to make up my mind on if it's the 2nd, 3rd or 4th worst Star Wars movie (depending on if you just count the main movies or the extras as well).
No big spoilers, but the film is a mess, obviously had major changes during production (whole parts of the story seem to be missing, or set up and then abandoned, or resolved off screen), and the "plot" makes George Lucas look like a master screenwriter by comparison.
I remember reading that JJA had no plan for The Force Awakens - he had no idea who Snoke was supposed to be, and that they didn't even finalise the design, or even the gender of the character, till a few week before the film was released.
JJA just set up a lot "Mystery Boxes" with no plan for what they contained.
RJ went let's drop this mystery box & endless nostalgia & do something different.
The JJA came back, went "no, I want my Mystery Boxes & MORE nostalgia" & like always he had no follow through, no ideas for an ending, not even suprise reveals of the "mysteries" and just massive amounts of pointless fan service.
Seriously, why do people give him big projects? He's damaged every franchise he's been attached too!
