I’m gutted with what Naughty Dog have put out here. We have been victims of false advertising and pure lies. From the trailers we were shown, we were expecting a game about Joel and Ellie. We didn’t get this and to make matters worse, the story is terrible, it’s jumbled together and the writing and pacing is so far off the first game, it’s almost like there has been a completely different team writing this story. The only good thing about this game is the gameplay and graphics. The level of detail that has gone into this is brilliant, at times I thought I was looking at real humans. The world of the last of us is great, but in a story driven franchise, when it’s not up to par, it will drag everything down with it. The ending of this game will leave you feeling angry and upset, there is nothing satisfying about it and nothing gets cleared up. It appears Naughty Dog have tried to do something different with this game, but it doesn’t work and it’s a mess. It feels like a big political statement and a message about revenge is bad being shoved in our faces. In my honest opinion I had to set the difficulty to very easy after the first couple of hours into this game just to get through it, it wasn’t a good experience at all. We was told by Neil Druckmann himself that the Last of Us is about Joel and Ellie, this game isn’t. I bought it as I had to play it as I consider the first game the best I’ve ever played. However, after this I will not be purchasing anything Naughty Dog put out in the future. Save yourself £60 and don’t buy it.
