I was expecting a movie with challenges based on a mission to Mars, but what I got was more of a soap opera/musical. There are overly long stretches with nothing but music. The drama isn't about space problems but rather about people's obsession with concerns about relationships and emotional dysfunction. The mission commander is a woman who takes it upon herself to participate in the response to every crisis. This is unrealistic; a commander, regardless of gender, would delegate responsibility to the mission specialists, not undertake it herself/himself. Can you imagine the ranking officer doing a dangerous space walk that could be performed by others? The pace of this series is too slow and deliberate. Much of the material should be on the cutting room floor, IMO.
