Funny, moving and well thought out.
It really is a slice of live and a lot more acuratte in so many ways than other gay movies. It really touches a lot of subjects and insecurities about being gay but in a way that is not over dramatic or over comedic.
Sometimes this stories either focus too much on sex and kink for the shock factor or paint it all with rainbows and roses in an heteronormative way. This has a bit of both, because is a movie after all, but I think is the right balance.
This one is a bit more about insecurities; is a story about two real men living in the modern world trying to juggle so many balls (no pun intended) about live, dating in the gay community, and trying to fit in two worlds that can cohexist; a more secure and stable one with more defined rules, and one where everyone seems to be going on different directions and its easy to feel lost.
Can be perfectly seen by straight people without offending anybody that is curious (in fact is a very nice starting window to it because despite being all about queernes it focuses more on the day to day life of lgbtq+ community rather than when they go out partying hard in glitter, wich is fabolous but some films make it seem that people have the energy to do that 24/7). That being said the focus is on two white male presenting cis men, lets not forget that, and other identities don't really have time to shine, but I think the film is self aware of it and its more about the "bros".
I think the lgbtq+ community will get the jokes more. I personally laughted at a lot of moments because I could relate to 99% of the scenes.
