Such a heart-breaking, jarring and thought provoking documentary. I really would have appreciated a disclaimer for people with PTSD or other types of behavioral/mental health disorders. The reaccounts given in this film are INCREDIBLY graphic and can be emotionally triggering. And to that point, I did not like the added footage in between the film, which was obviously placed for dramatic flare. Trust, this documentary is powerful enough without the extra image of a slain animal being hung. I finished this film with a great sense of heaviness but also better understanding into how someone can carry out unfathomable acts of malice and torment. As a person who once approved of the death penalty, I have been growing to understand that this punitive system is a lose, lose for everyone. And for myself, it is important that I continue to practice humanity, empathy and forgiveness toward others, despite the violence they have inflicted. Cruelty as punishment births cruelty as revenge and the cycle never ends.
