There's a point to be made in contrasting the artifice of hollywood or the people who live there with the richness of the art itself. Start in the right place and this movie can get that message across in about ten minutes but aside from one scene with good acting this movie was made to be unwatchable. It's an interesting statement but fundamentally one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Only thing I can compare it to is the softcore on Cinemax or Starz back in the day. That being said the direct to vhs, girl/girl stuff they filmed with a greased lens still only captures some of what's there. Sure, it looks that bad and is written that bad, but I cannot adequately convey with words just how pretentious it is for David Lynch to make a two hour long hollywood movie so bad that it can only function as a meta commentary about how much he hates hollywood movies.

Lot of bad fake accents and bad special effects. Has some great moments but half the decisions made here really strain credulity. I get that people panic and don't think rationally but after a point it starts looking like a continuity problem when people are just forgetting things they did earlier that same day. That's not great but it's a lot worse when you'll get a scene with a woman moving frantically only for the very next angle to show her standing, almost motionless, facing in the opposite direction before getting a reverse shot where she's back to freaking out again. Not sure how much of this is a budget issue but I don't know how you can leave some of these takes in the finished product. (edit) nevermind what I said about budget they blew 35 mil on this thing

An absolute delight, I can only sit in anticipation hoping this romp continues for a few more seasons.
