Visceral, thoughtful film about multiple experiences of the Viet Nam War and how it affected each person Beautiful images of Viet Nam countryside contrasted with the violence and degradation of the war.The protagonist, a young woman, finds herself raped and brutalized by both N. Vietnamese soldiers and US soldiers, she eventually comes to America with one GI who has been brutalized by war, and in spite of his love for her repeatedly brutalizes her until he commits suicide. Returning home with her three sons, she is reunited with her mother and family who have also been brutalized and survived many hardships. She is finally reconciled with her family,and finds peace in a life lived between two lands belonging to neither, but much involved with their futures.

Brilliant show with all-star cast. Sad, compelling story told from different points of view.
