This is a great album by a band that never garnered the appropriate audience and critical acclaim they truly deserved. The writing is top notch and the production is second to nothing, Dave Allen’s production techniques are shining all through this. The prior release (self titled debut) got considerably more exposure and was equally as great as this, perhaps more so, as often the case it is tough for a band to follow up on a masterful debut with the second effort. However, despite the critics and the fact that no one seemed to pay attention to this when it came out, it is certainly worth a listen now to anyone curious. The title track is particularly strong and lyrically it is way beyond its time. Pay attention and you can see the present picture of the human condition painted with some fantastic (and seriously catchy) pop/rock riffs that showcase a group of guys not content with staying stuck in grooves of the 80’s post punk era.
