I have been gaming for as long as I can remember. It started with Mario games on my gameboy color when I was 8 years old and progressed to Xbox a few years later, PC for Word of Warcraft in high school and eventually PlayStation where I discovered From Software and Dark Souls a year or two after release. Since this discovery, From Software has been my favorite publisher and I have dearly loved every game they’ve put out. That being said, I have also spent many hundreds of hours with Destiny 1 and 2, Diablo 3, the Fallout series and many other rpgs. Elden Ring, with all honesty, blows them all out of the water. This is the single greatest game that I have ever played by so many miles (in my humble opinion). The world design, the atmosphere, the soundtrack, the exploration, the pure sense of curiosity when a new landmark is seen on the horizon. The enemy and boss design, the unparalleled sense of accomplishment and wonder when a challenging boss is finally defeated or a new area is discovered. Yes, it has a high barrier to entry, even for a seasoned Souls player. But if you can persevere until your knowledge and skill with the game reaches a certain point, this game will reward you beyond belief. I don’t have a single complaint besides performance issues for the PC player base. Elden Ring is an undeniably masterpiece, and my personal favorite game of all time with no close competitors.
