I give this two stars because only a few songs were good and catchy.
Despite watching this movie with an open mind, the trailer falsely advertised it as a direct continuation of the Descendants universe. Unfortunately, nothing in the movie added up.
Despite claims that this is its own movie, Disney marketed it as the "fourth movie" , possibly affecting the timeline temporarily.
This story has multiple plot holes that make no sense within the Disney universe. It’s confusing that Hades, being the God of the underworld born centuries ago, had to learn from a younger wizard instead of tending to souls. Disney should explain this discrepancy.
The ages of the characters didn’t make sense because they varied in the movies, and we didn’t witness any other Disney villain kids in present Auradon. The main characters’ cynicism towards each other and lack of open-mindedness goes against the notion of giving their roommate a fair chance, especially considering the Queen of Auradon and the new headmistress are also villain kids.
Additionally, there was no reference whatsoever to the other villains being sisters or to Uma’s ignorance about Cinderella’s potential wrongdoing that triggered the Queen of Hearts’ vengeful madness. Disney should clarify why the Queen of Hearts was freely being evilif she wasn’t in the Isle of the Lost.
Regardless of whether this film is potentially divided into two parts known as the Rise of Red. The screenwriters were definitely lazy and didn’t care about the quality, but the actors tried their best to salvage the movie despite the awful script. While the costumes were passable, the screen quality was somewhat distracting, like the green screen effects used in the Once Upon a Time series.
Furthermore, the wigs on Cinderella’s daughter were unique since various hairstylists were let go, leading to the presence of bald caps and a lack of compatibility with her skin tone.
