3.15.20 is a much better album to me. it was dynamic, raw, and held one’s humanity while touching the ethereal allowing us to straddle dimensions. 3.15.20 helped me through lockdown during the pandemic and served as a point of connection between my loved ones and me during a time when isolation was prominent. my embodiment of this work filled me with resonance during a time when i generally experienced more fear and anxiety than i could have imagined. i feel disheartened that this piece of art did not remain with a release and caveat for Atavista deemed as “reimagined” or “final cut” instead. the intimacy works of art elicit, the intimacy 3.15.20 elicited within me feels lost and stolen. 3.15.20 felt like it was mine as the vibrations nestled into a home deep inside of me. while i understand and hold that childish gambino has the final say, considering his own relationship to his creations, there is the part of how it touches the public that feels lost here. i’m deeply saddened.
