This is not a true adaptation of the book as it is just too far from the original. Characters and bare bones of plot have been used but substantially changed in some cases to be unrecognisable from the original. The sets and street scenes are darkly beautiful. The costumes magnificent. I can understand that for some it is a step to far, however if you relax sit back and go on Pips journey with him it is a rewarding experience.
