The series was one of the best dramas ever.
Even my 70 year old mother once when irritated with me called me, in jest, a f***g c****er. It shocked me and had us laughing for days. But the way they talked in the show and the In we had figuring out the idiom was wonderful.
My main problem with the show was the unsatisfying third season. This movie was partly made to make up for the way the show just faded weakly into the sunset.
The movie... while good, left me with little satisfaction in the end. It was well made in all ways except for the story. The end is not a safe end for the characters. You know there will be more trouble to come as a result of this plot. I don’t mind sad endings or endings that still leave danger in the world. I do expect a plot that is designed with one main point to be resolved in one direction or the other. This one ended with a very weak and hole-y climax.
(I wanted the sheriff to end up with one particular woman. Whether he did or did not... at least he made a choice. That was a solid conclusion to that sub plot.) But as a whole the story left me as Luke warm as season 3.
One other complaint. The background chatter was too obvious and too loud when inside buildings. There was no variety to the chattering of the off-screen crowd. The town would have had more quiet moments than it had. The talk in the background reminded me of the old comedy laugh tracks in its intrusion.
EVEYTHING ELSE including actors and set design and music was awesome.
