A must read book for Americans in particular to understand how America has been following a different kind of imperalism, one different from Britain and France who held large swathes of land and people. American imperalism is through overseas territories hosting their bases, using lands like Guantanamo Bay under nebulous coverage of US laws for military purposes, or Northern Marianas for sweatshops etc.. A fascinating read on how USA has his its empire in plain sight
