I find it extraordinary how popular this movie is. I watched it with my wife and three late teenage kids and none of us enjoyed it. Not because of the level of over the top violence, but because it went on so long it lost all impact and it became boring. We all loved Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained, but this just doesn’t compare. Tarantino’s other movies have a wonderful mix of black humour to balance the violence along with great choice of music and visual style. This movie completely puts style before substance, lacks any storyline, has very little humour, the choice of music is poor and the violence that is so ridiculous and goes on and on that it becomes quite obviously gratuitous and pointless. If you like the type of action movie where the fight scenes and chases just keep going on and on and become quite unbelievable then you won’t mind this and may enjoy it. I think most people reviewing this movie must be Tarantino fans (as I am), but are unable to admit that he can fail and create something that is a dud.
