This show is pathetic. As an Indian who did not grow up in India, this is not relatable or anything. It’s a downright insult in so many ways. We’re a poorly understood bunch outside our country, we Tamilians, and this show pits us out to be confused, crazy, culture hating wannabes. I liked Mindy in The Office and her Mindy Project, but this show was terrible. Come on, who says “thaklee sambar” ? And why would you cast two Indian parents who did not grow up in India to play the immigrants? It is so obvious they couldn’t act and were so fake. Why is Devi’s mom on the show all over the place? Why are there so many cliches on this show? Which sophomore goes up to a guy and just says can we do it? Why didn’t anyone stop her from the coyote? That’s really messed up writing. Literally the only thing on this show that’s worth this 1 star rating is that Devi goes to a therapist and her friend Fabiola.
