It's still enjoyable for me to watch. But.. It's just missing something like: the strong "Chi" in Mulan's character since she was a child misleading the point of the animation movie where you can maximize your potential and be as great as Mulan although you are a normal standard human-being. On the live adaptation, Mulan is already as good as Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars. She's just hiding her potential because she's a girl, and an imposter that breaks the rules and this action affects her performance. Also. The battle is supposed to be huge when you're attacking a Chinese Emperor. I don't see the 'hugeness' on this. The general by Donnie Yen seems like a regular general.
At first, I thought it's going to be as great as Aladdin's live-action, but, I still like it. Despite the missing things, the main message is still there. And yeah, it's closer to the "original" Mulan in 6th-century ballad in the Chinese fiction: even a woman can take a man's place (in a battlefield) and does it better. It's good, but, can do better.
