(No Spoilers Here! )
Could it have BEEN more awesome?... I don't think so!
The beginning is great and gets you right into the vibe of things (like watching a legendary baseball player walk across his home field) and the whole production wasn't so long as to wear out it's welcome. It's a great reminder of memories past and of how much these characters and actors changed our lives for the better.
While the host was a bit too flamboyant for my taste, he otherwise did an amazing job hosting it and didn't steal the scene away from the cast. It was helpful that he was as enamored to see the cast together again as we were!
It was kinda cool to see the international impact the show had in inspiring people in countries outside the U.S., a concept that I didn't really think about, but that makes a lot of sense. I know people who used this show to learn English and about American culture at that time, and to see that reflected here was cool.
The cast did an amazing job telling the stories of their memories performing and it's easy to relate to a lot of what they say as I've done a lot of plays in my youth.
The production does a great job bringing back key moments of the series in a way that doesn't feel like a point-by-point summary. I really felt like I was just spending about 2 hours with these cast members in real life, especially when they were re-reading lines from key scenes.
Watching them re-read lines in a cozy round table style was amazing and intimate. You can tell these actors really love each other, Jen and Courteney in particular. Part of you will wish that David and Jen had been a thing in real life but you learn why that didn't happen (not telling!).
I thought the questions asked of the cast were very good, and during one question that was a bit pointed, the actors not only handled it very well, but answered honestly and in a way that not only added a LOT of value to what we know about the show, but in a way that really humanized the actors involved in the question. You'll know this question when you see it and the answer to this question is worth the price of admission alone.
Lisa's answer to her final question (no spoilers) was very good as it allows us to continue feeling good about these characters. After what tends to take place in the TV biz with the rehashing of old properties in a way that destroys them, it's best to leave these characters untouched in a way that let's us keep loving them.
It will make you want to re-watch the series. I'd have to get very nit-picky to find any fault with any of this. It was all handled very well and in a way that paid a lot of respect to the audience, the actors, and the creators involved.
Overall I'm glad that this happened and that the people involved didn't wait until it was too late to make it happen!
