Meh. This book gave me something to read this weekend but it’s forgettable. Wasn’t a huge fan of the main character and the story was as predictable as it was unconvincing. It’s giving Hallmark murder mystery - skinny white ladies in cable-knit sweaters and all. I would not recommend this book to anyone. I still finished it so I’m giving it 3 stars but I think you’d be better off reading something else.

Meandering, pointless story that managed to fill over 400 pages with words yet had literally nothing to say. I was bored and I learned nothing. Waste of my day off.

I Wanna give this 4.5 stars because of the gratuitous violence and the ending. That being said, this book is insightful and beautiful to read. It’s gorgeous. I spent all of my free time reading this book. I’d recommend but wow the violence was a lot. * Kind of spoiler alert * if half of what happened to Jude happened, the book would still read the same and the story would be unchanged. It was frustrating to see little to no development of self esteem and the sharp pivot at the end was also frustrating and left me with my hands up. Not all stories need to end happy, but it felt like that author gave up writing in the last few pages.
