I didn’t know what to expect but loved this film. Some reviewers find Sandra, the suspect, unlikeable. I find her relatable, she’s a contained character who isn’t given to shows of emotion, some viewers believe that means she’s “cold”. There are people who need to see emotions on display to believe those emotions exist, contained people know their reticence doesn’t make their trauma any less distressing or less real. I loved the exploration of a relationship gone wrong; what I saw was a man with feelings of failure and lack of motivation wanting someone to blame. Others see an unsympathetic wife responsible for his misery. That’s one of the great things about this film, the audience isn’t given all the answers. I loved the performances of the main characters. An unexpectedly riveting cinematic evening.

Poor plot, poor acting, feels like a low budget film. Usually like Liam Neeson but this felt a bit desperate.

Loved it, and found it a much more enjoyable film than the previous one. Lots going on and some character devlopement, which was missing from the previous film. If you loved Downton, you'll love this film.

I hated this film. Diana was clearly a troubled woman but this makes her look like a spoiled psycho. It’s one thing being troubled, quite another being downright rude, inconsiderate and badly behaved. And the cars … from the fact that Diana’s Porsche was in fact two different cars one G registered, one J registered, all within the same journey (both in the journey to Sandringham and the final scenes) to the fact that she was greeted by the head chef in a Land Rover with a 2016 registration plate - in a film set in 1991. A shoddy and abysmal film to my taste.

Not remotely true to the book, which I read three weeks before watching the film. Where was Lisbeth when her sister needed rescuing from her father for sixteen years ? Well, first Lisbeth was a child when she left in this film version, so I guess her own survival will have been paramount. However in the books she's locked up in an asylum having set her father on fire (to save her mother from his abuse)... this film isn't remotely true to either this specific book or the book series. If you take this film on its own it's an okay thriller with some elements that are just plain impossible, but hey it's fiction. If you assume it's supposed to be a passable adaptation of the character and her story from the books you wonder if any of the film makers have done more than speed read this one book then rewrite it any way they like. Maybe the problem with this series is that there is just too much of Lisbeth's complex back story to make a stand alone film true to the book by the time you get to book 4; perhaps a multi episode TV adaptation would work better.
