Regarding David Brooks' and Ruth Marcus' discussion of Democratic House leadership. Ms. Marcus made a reference to "lefty crazies." (8:08 in the segment). This furthers the right wing trope which I believe began during The Great Depression when laws such as the Glass-Steagall Act were passed to set limits on how bankers and such risked the money of others. Those of us on the left have a view point about the role of government. That view point includes not allowing anyone free rein to risk other people's life savings. The fact that investment bankers, stock brokers, and business people in general do not like regulation does not mean that people on the left are crazy. I realize that the segment is opinion. However, referring to people as "lefty crazies" furthers an attempt to discredit people with very legitimate concerns.
All that being said I respect the NewsHour and watch it almost every weeknight.
