This is an incredibly moving and heartbreaking snapshot of the start of the AIDS epidemic. It balances the drama, humour and tears brilliantly and is one of the best dramas I have seen for a long time. The cast are all superb, the soundtrack amazing and the storyline gripping, engaging and totally absorbing from the start.
I was only young when at the time this drama is set but I remember the TV adverts, the ignorance and the misinformation being bandied around by the media which caused fear, divisiveness, hatred and scapegoating for what was once again a man-made disease due to mistreatment and butchering of animals, just like Coronavirus. I'd like to say that things have changed but with issues like Brexit etc. it seems that we have learnt nothing from history.
Another truly brilliant TV show from Russell T. Davies and one I cannot recommend highly enough.
