The movie is a very low quality pictures by todays standards. Even low by 1950's standards.
Why did I sit through it???
Because, as a 12 or 13 year old kid the only time I ever ditched school was to watch them make this movie. I lived a couple of blocks away from the Audubon Bird Sanctuary in El Monte,Calif. Where portions of this was filmed.
The only wild animal was a trained mountain lion, with its fur dyed black. The scene where the women were slinging rocks across the water had to be stopped several times as the rocks were made of rubber and floated when they landed in the water.
You may be interested to know that the man playing the giant was actually almost 8 feet tall. He would show us kids how he could pass a half dollar through his ring. A crew member stood by him and put his feet one in front of the other, and the giants foot was almost as both of the other man's.
Memories of over 70 years ago.
