A really good Mills and Boon style romance. Lacks intensity and authenticity. Lots of pretty looking people and houses and shops. No ugliness. Pleasant way to spend time if you have nothing better to do. You could always go to sleep if it’s too slow, because nothing will distract you from a good snooze.

The movie is outstanding in the premise, cinematography, performances and visual choices. It is a “must watch” film. Beyond that, the movies struggles with keeping the plot-line engaging and intriguing. When the decision is made to keep only three characters in entire film, it becomes imperative to have a solid storyline that keeps the pace. This is where the movie falters. The edit could have been tighter. Had the film wrapped up in 1hour and 20 or 30 minutes, it would have been more thrilling. Since the movie had an uncomfortable and unconvincing climax, a shorter length would served well. I do wonder what the same film would have looked like in a saturated colour or in a mix of B&W and colour. Perhaps the film makers could re-edit and re-release with experimentation with colour and length.

Honestly, disappointing. I wouldn’t have felt so let down if Night Country had released as an independent series. Being a part of True Detective raises the expectations and of being of a certain kind of story. There was too much of “supernatural”. One did see similar allusions in Season-1 but the ending satisfactorily resolves them. Somehow, I couldn’t warm up to any of the characters. Jodie Foster’s charmless character seems to thaw only during her escapades with her “lover”. The other main characters seem as cold as the temperatures. It would have probably worked better as a part of the Icelandic series “Trapped”, as it has similar ponderous sensibilities.

Good clean fun movie to watch with family!!

I think the critics are being too harsh. It was an interesting and intense film that could have probably been edited to being about 15 minutes shorter. It does bring to mind several films of a similar theme- Interstellar, the Martian and doesn’t quite hit that high. However, it has its moments and is a good family watch that is gripping in parts and heartbreaking in others. There were many predictable scenes which are strangely satisfying in their familiarity, and yet there were some unexpected twists. Not a bad watch!

I enjoyed the show even though the last couple of episodes are not as good the rest. The performances, production quality, etc is perfect. There’s a poignancy and hope in the characters which makes the story more believable, engaging and haunting than terrifying.
