Good film overall... Easy to Follow story and mostly engaging. The reason for 4 stars and not a perfect rating is that after watching good, superb and even excellent Chinese & Japanese Cinema with swordsmanship / samurai it's hard to put this film better above the rest. Obviously it's not intended to be the best, but when you are an avid watcher of such films you expect more... and well I was expecting more from this film. To not go so far back, I even much appreciated the action and combat / duel scenes in the 18 year old film Zatoichi (2003) with Takeshi Kitano, the remake of 13 Assassins (2010), a bit more CGI in this one but still very underrated 47 Ronin (2013), some of my favorite the Rurouni Kenshin films (2012-2014) they took some of the combat and stylized scenes from them, heck even the chinese film Shadow (2018) had more engaging scenes and that was mostly drama, Japanese film Kingdom (2019) also a great film with a great story and action, even though this is a live action manga Blade of the Immortal (2017) makes this film look like child's play. I am satisfied but I wanted more! too picky I know! but when you have seen some of these great films, you expect nothing less. Give it a watch, and maybe if you have never ventured and given Asian Cinema a go, this is a good place to start. I enjoy Chinese, Korean, Japanese, lately the Indonesian / Thai films have also gained some notoriety.
