How I could stay away by not recommending this exceptionally projected movie – Evening Shadows. While the world is fighting against the pandemic COVID-19 situation, there are many lives who have been and will continue to fight, for their rights. Like many others, in this lockdown situation, thinking what should be done – I came across this movie on Netflix which I was hesitant to watch, reading the info. I thought it will be like any other LGBTQI cinema showing Sex, Love, Hatred, Crime. I decided to watch it and my mother agreed, making this demon face – I do not get this rubbish!
We gave nearly 2 hours to this movie, which has been a lifetime experience for me and my mother. The movie is all about a bond that is shared between Mother and her son. It starts with a boy (Devansh Doshi) who is returning to hometown to visit his parents where things are not planned as to his knowledge. The movie revolves around child abuse (even if a child wants to do it willingly – this shouldn’t happen), a mother who is just not a mother but also a wife, a sister-in-law, a daughter-in-law but struggles to get the respect from her husband. Her happiness is in everything, but it is beyond her life for his son. Mother’s love is unconditional – which has been shown in the movie beautifully by Mona Ambegaonkar who is able to fight with everyone, when it comes for her children – not all can do this.
I always fail to understand the philosophy of few, in LGBTQI of all parents – we raise the child saying again and again, You are our life and world, but when it is the time to stand with our children, suddenly the world becomes everything and the main reason is societal pressure. I wonder why? Why? And why?
Sridhar rangayan If I could award you for this – Hope this could be an addition to your accolades. I came out to my parents 8 years back, when I was abused, beaten, rehabbed – (that’s whole another story), but my mother had tears, watching the movie and she said “Sorry” – that meant the world to me. The acceptance is never easy but as a child, if your parents accept you and your happiness – that is everything, because they are the reason to give you the life. I feel sad to see, how they can be brutal to someone who they own. And, in today’s world when there is no Humanity, brutal crimes; Parents should be happy to accept their child as Human above all – as this is all that matters.
Thanks to all of you, there is a lot to be done, Stay strong!!!
