I’m a huge fan of classic video games and absolutely love when some collection or remaster or whatever comes out like Spyro Reignited or Spongebob Rehydrated, I even got a GameCube for my birthday a few months ago so I can play classic games, so when I heard 3D All-Stars was coming I was pretty excited even though I already had these games, but the thing is the games are amazing as always but the collection itself is eh, I love 64 and could replay that over and over again but I keep asking why they didn’t really change anything about it for the collection, like yeah the hub has been updated but why not maybe make it widescreen and maybe fix the audio so it’s not compressed, and yeah I know people adore the old school low poly look but I wouldn’t mind seeing this game with a modern touch like Crash or Spyro, but overall it’s still great as always even though you can’t BLJ and Gay Bowser’s gone but it doesn’t really effect it that much, but with Sunshine they made it full screen but they didn’t for 64...why... and this is the game I think needs to be updated a bit, since it’s now in HD, the polygons are really visible and this is just me speaking but certain things look odd up close like Mario’s face and hands, one thing that really bothers me is you can’t change the button lay out cause I hate pressing down on the joysticks in games and you need to do that in order to aim fludd, why can’t I just have the option to edit the controls so then I won’t have to deal with that, not only that but you can’t use a GameCube controller and play it the old fashioned way with the spring loaded triggers and even though Sunshine was built around it, and with Galaxy it’s not really the best way to play it mainly cause of the curser, it works fine with 2 separate joy-cons and yeah you’ll have to recalibrate the curser a lot which I don’t mind, but if your playing with a pro controller it’s just uncomfortable to aim cause you’ll be moving your arms around a lot just to grab a star bit, and playing in handheld mode is a huge no cause instead of aiming your controller, you have to let go of the switch and us the touch screen over and over again, this could’ve been fixed if there were controller options but they didn’t bother to add that, but since this is an anniversary collection what are the bonuses, well you get soundtracks for all 3 games and that’s kinda it, no videos or concept art or anything that you can get in other games like Rare Replay or the Mega Man Collections, I know I’ve been talking kinda negatively about 3D All-Stars but it still is a decent collection, I love all of the games it has and can replay them for hours, I just think a lot of work needs to be done, I also think they need to produce more copies instead of making it a limited release, there are tons of people out there who would love to play or replay these games but making it limited is just making it a game that’s hard to reach, but overall if you have $60 in your credit card for a download or are able to find a copy out there then this is a good way to spend your time.
