I loved Born a Crime!! I’m reading it a second time to refresh my memory for our book club discussion. Noah’s autobiography is extremely funny and entertaining, although growing up in the 80’s under the racist Apartheid rule wasn’t! It’s a story of a mother and son team ( an Atticus-Scout relationship in a way ) navigating their way through the challenging and complicated society of South Africa in the 80’s. One of the themes I could relate to was “fitting in”. Trevor said it was easier for him to be “an insider as an outsider than to be an outsider as an insider.” Worth reading!

An uplifting memoir! Lois Lowry is a gifted writer. I highly recommend this. I read this in three sittings.
