The scene where the main character kidnaps Jennifer was so compelling, so disgusting, and so deeply unsettling that I almost turned the movie off. Itโs almost like they did this scene ~too well~ to the point that there was no possibility of redeeming the main character in ANY kind of small way. As the movie went on, I went from wanting the main characters to die, to feeling mad that they hadnโt already. Itโs a shame because I found the performances compelling, but the main character just had zero redeeming qualities and not an ounce of me could find space to root for her. I didnโt love to hate or hate to love her, I just thoroughly disliked her which really sucked me out of the movie. By the end, I just didnโt care what happened. Had the main character just been tweaked, I probably would have loved this movie. Itโs dark, and biting, but ultimately serves the opposite of what it apparently aims to deliver: that being a feminist anti-hero.
