I watched this having enjoyed the original BBC Ghosts set in Button House. Which was both original and very funny. The US version is also funny in its,own way. Unlike other adaptations they haven't slavishly copied very a British setting and stories. I have watched both versions several times and enjoyed them both. The longer US seasons allow for a variety of stories and seeing original UK cast as advisors makes things work better. Humour is an individual thing and the US version is less nuanced for me. As the UK version has finished only the US version is available and I hope I can see season 3 soon.

I came across trailers for the show and then by chance caught the beginning of the first episode. I was hooked and have now seen the first three series. Unlike US shows guns don't feature too much and there is a lot of procedural stuff which I find interesting. Canadian law being somewhat different from Uk law. There is enough background information about the characters to keep it interesting. Charlie isn't a rogue cop or one with a lot of baggage apart from an ex wife somewhere. I recommend this series to anyone who likes more thougtful cop shows.

Watching the series on DVD and recalling how it addressed controversies of the time. Female vicars were still new in the mid 1990s in the Church of England. They addressed issues such as poverty and global debt. The recent lockdown series addressed current issues and did so appropriately if people actually listen to what was said. Comedy is actually a good vehicle to raise awareness like the last episode of Blackadder 4.

I have seen this film many times and still find it funny I had a video version and ow DVD. The set up may be like many other military comedy type films ( or even serious ones) but the scenarios presented were realistic and the solutions innovative. Kelsey Grammer is a stand out but there are lots of fun characters. The inclusion of a female dive officer set up to fail provided an opportunity for her to overcome confidence issues . Looking at it 25 years after it was made it might be a bit dated but the lack of bad language and unnecessary violence makes it worth giving it a shot.
