From the previews, like my son and wife I was looking forward to watching this series. However, after 3 episodes, I find it a hard watch. The main reason for this is Will Arnett. His attempts at humor are incredibly forced and come off very awkward. I liken a show like this to something like Face Off, the monster makeup competition that was formerly on SciFi for 11years. As I watch LEGO I would like to see the creative process for each team. Do they visualize in their heads, or do they sketch it out? The host needs to get out of the way, and let the camera, and the contestants tell the story. To me it would be far more compelling. I would like to see the judges interact more with the contestants in the conceptualizing stage. Then revisit at the mid way point. Also, I think similar to Face Off, the contestants should be given more time, like 3 days. I think they would produce even more creative ideas this way, and allow the creators to step away and gain some perspective, and have a better opportunity to recover from a poor concept. The show would still be an hour long, just shot differently. Right now the first improvement would be removing Arnett. I love him as an actor and voice over actor, but he doesn't seem very authentic in this role. Maybe someone like a Patton Oswalt would be a better choice. Anyway, that's my take.
