Kind of difficult to describe this flick. Part rom-com, part travelogue, as story telling the delivery seems to drift between quite good to mildly pleasant to acceptable to almost squirm-inducing embarrassment. Patchy and inconsistent probably sums it up. Pleasant enough to watch most of the time, with some almost touching elements, but interspersed with a few clumsy attempts at humour, the majority of which fall pretty flat. Most the main roles were performed well enough, but with none especially outstanding. As an aside, but somewhat notably, the rich uncle character seemed a little 'off his best game'. The extras though, all appeared to be very conscious of the camera - and this detracted a tad from what could have been a reasonably competent and professional effort. Similarly, anyone familiar with the film's location (Western Australia) might have some trouble with the geographical sequencing of events as they unfold, but everyone else will enjoy some rather spectacular scenery from around this far flung state - hence the earlier reference to the similarities with a travelogue. Overall, my rating: 3 out of 5.
