5 stars for the incredible end scene when captain Phillips was taken into the hospital bay after rescue and assessed ( sorry, spoiler alert,!!) Some of the best acting from Hanks-who in my opinion is the best out there.

There is a fantastic scene on the train where the four of them discuss sex. It's absolutely hilarious and actually looks ad libbed mostly. Steve Carroll has me crying laughing. The entire film is wonderful but this scene by far will live long in my memory. Top drawer stuff

If you want to find the magic of Christmas then absorb yourself in this film. It is pure escapism and adventure. The train journey is incredible, they've packed in so much to that. I can't fault it. It's hardly surprising Tom Hanks is behind it, he's such a master at giving creative, intelligent and sincere movies.

Loved this so much. Beautiful acting by Morgan Freeman and Diane Keating, cast perfectly. They were so natural around eachother you'd swear absolutely they were actually a real married couple! This film is all about the finer things in life. It's not about action or adventure, or a twisted complicated plot. It's subtle and beautiful.

Watched this a few days ago and have a sudden urge to watch it again. So I will and see if I feel any different l. Maybe the second time around it will be more favourable. It felt like it more about a celebration of the Estivez family and the production was more for them, not for the us the viewer, the punter. I wasn't drawn in by any of it unfortunately although I wanted to be. It did not feel genuine. It felt like I'd seen the film before in many other films. I may feel differently on the second viewing but that's my initial thoughts

I was bored completely by this film. The characters were dull and the story was dire. Im being generous with two stars.

I couldn't wait for this movie to finish so I could get back to my usual rom coms and feel good films and not have to think about the story that had been portrayed. I am fortunate to not have ever been directly affected by addiction but in saying that I felt I understood everything about this movie. I strongly believe there is addiction in all of us and like a monster it can rear its ugly head in a moment of weakness when you let it in. I cant praise the actors who played father and son enough. They absolutely nailed it. You really felt for both of them.

Delightful film. Very well cast movie with each character bringing something individual to the story. I had planned to watch this over two days but it kept me up well past my bed time as I just couldn't turn it off! The girl who played Finn Was very engaging. I’d recommend this to anyone.

I really wanted to love this more but I just didnt. What really let it down was the end song in the Albert Hall. After quite a build up of expectation it sounded boring and underwhelming. It left me quite uninspired. The best scene of the film was when they went for a ramble and ended up under a viaduct to escape a heavy rain shower. The singing quality was superb. Bit hit and miss for me - sorry
