As a child in Sighet, Romania, Alice had dance lessons and practiced piano near a large, lovely wall tapestry, which later became the object for which she named this book.
Experiences at Auschwitz and the long, final winter march to Bergen Belsen concentration camp, recessed for fifty years, finally came back to her only in nightmares, so fringes of doubt remained, until her four adult daughters took her back to Auschwitz so Alice could confirm, or rid herself, of doubts. Confirmed!
The group then went to Sighet to find her family home, but the current occupants quickly slammed that door.
She accepted that she would never find the wall tapestry, but she was happy for the beautiful Tapestry of her life in America.
You will enjoy meeting Alice on the pages of her book, and you will remember her story.
