So coming into this game I already had a bias as I played and enjoyed the first game, Ori and the Blind Forest, however toward the beginning I found my critical side being tested and overall Ori and the Will of the Wisps deserves more than five stars.
[MINOR SPOILER AHEAD]
The game starts off at relatively the same note as the first, Ori is in an unknown world and beginning is a tad slow with no abilities. But from there on out the game takes hold, and throws you straight into the deep end. Veteran players will not find it difficult to readjust to the play style though the introduction of the combat systems is mind blowing and amazing. I found myself constantly trying to find new ways to combine and chain techniques. Immediately though it felt like I was just replaying the same story from Blind Forest and that was a bit disappointing at first, as I had high expectations. However, once you complete a handful of your first main quest components only then do you realize the story is JUST beginning. My disappointment was shattered the moment the game really felt to begin (similar to the chills I got post prologue in the original game). From there, Will of the Wisps is without a doubt a masterpiece story-wise and I felt that while it carried some premise from Blind Forest, it executed as effectively or better in most instances. All along the way, the music carrier strongly and the combination of it and the environments made the game more enjoyable.
The ending to this beautiful journey I managed to 100% complete in a 15 hour play through was not only as amazing as it was built up to be but brought me to tears. I never thought I would say the following: Will of the Wisps was, in my opinion, story-wise, better than Blind Forest. And if I had to buy again I would pay double. For any first time players while playing the first game does give you a little more perspective, jumping into Ori and the Will of the Wisps is something you will never forget.
