Dolores Giles

I saw this movie on PBS. I thought it was interesting in that based on the movie these women go through a lot just to find a husband, they aren’t necessarily doing this for themselves but for their family. Marriage doesn’t guarantee happiness as one woman found out. It’s more of a cultural value. I liked the woman who did pursue her goals of continuing her education in France. I can relate to her frustration of trying to please her family and coming up empty. The film itself may have had a few visual flaws but for me, didn’t take away from the substance of the movie.
