As a commentary on the negatives of consumerism this film achieved an impressive level of irony. I take it was intended as irony as, of course, the whole film industry is born of consumerism and requires a profligate amount of energy. If the anti-capitalist ideologists want to push their point home, they’d be more true to their cause by putting pen to recycled paper and getting on their reconditioned bicycles to deliver it by hand rather than choosing a vehicle that more or less is the pinnacle of the very system they claim to disapprove of.

I don’t know what film the one star giver watched - saying Jaoqin Phoenix was emotionless in this film! That man can portray a whole sequence of emotions with a turn of his lip and a look! Magnificent acting - great, moving film. Obviously, some people are blind to nuance!

Just beautiful. A more innocent age captured with a hint of the unreal. The embodiment of life made strange. Too subtle for many I fear.

Absorbing and emotionally engaging.

A missed opportunity. The premise was good. The execution excruciatingly terrible. Could have been such a good film - Wickerman of today but ..... so disappointing.
